601 Cashier/Ticket Taker (Admissions/Tolls)

  • Description:
    Assist guests entering the park. Includes accepting tickets from guests, verifying authenticity of each and scanning the bar-coded admission tickets. Also assist guests when exiting the park, placing re-entry stamps on each guest?s wrist and giving directions. Upon further training, will assist guests in purchasing admission tickets to the park. This includes explaining prices and discount promotions, ringing purchases on a cash register, accepting coupons and payment, and distributing admission tickets to guests. Are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring safety in assigned work locations while providing operations excellence.Responsible for charging and receiving the correct payment for the toll/parking fee from park guests. Cashiers are responsible for handling large sums of money and must be able to work quickly and accurately. A strict record of daily variance is kept. This is a physically demanding position involving bending over and standing for long periods of time. Toll cashiers may also be trained for and work as traffic directors.
  • Qualifications:
    Must be able to communicate well, follow instructions, work well with money, and be patient, alert, and courteous at all times. Should have a cheerful, courteous manner with a natural smile and be mature, level-headed, and not easily flustered by large crowds. Experience on a register is helpful, but not required. Applicant must not mind being confined to a cashier booth and working alone during his/her shift. It is required that all must be able to read, comprehend and speak the English language. Cashiers must be friendly and courteous with a natural smile and work comfortable with money. They must be able to remain level headed and unflustered under pressure. 602 Guest Pet/Farm Animal Attendant

  • Description:
    Responsible for daily cleaning of animal stalls; this includes continuous removal of animal wastes from areas of public-animal interaction and final sweeping. Hosing down and disinfecting of animal lots in the evening; preparing and selling animal food to public, grooming and feeding animals. Ensures all guest registration and agreement forms are properly completed. Prepares and cleans animal cages and runs; collects boarding fees.

    Interest in animals required. Duties require the ability to stand during an entire work shift, as well as frequent bending and stooping to sweep and clean, climbing ladders to storage areas, and lifting of objects up to 75 lbs. (ex: bales of hay, bags of feed).

603 Customer Service Host

  • Description:
    Responsible for greeting guests, providing park information as requested, and working at Lost Persons. Also handles complaints or comments from guests at various locations. Conducts park surveys. Assists with escorting high school bands. Will work in established locations, such as Guest Services and Lost Persons. This is to be done in a courteous manner and must be based upon a thorough knowledge of the park and its operation.
  • Qualifications:
    Must have an outgoing personality and be willing to take the initiative to meet and greet people. Should be able to communicate effectively, offer a pleasant appearance, work well without constant supervision, help people in a courteous manner and be willing to receive positive as well as negative feedback from guests. Must have a thorough knowledge of Cedar Point or be able to learn quickly. Marketing and Public Relations majors should enjoy this position. Often qualifies for internships.

604 Lifeguard

  • Description:
    Responsible for guarding swimmers and for the safe and efficient operation of Cedar Point's aquatic areas: Soak City, two beaches, six swimming pools and spas. Lifeguards must follow strict guidelines with regard to safety and emergency procedures. Lifeguards must maintain cleanliness of the Beaches, Pools, & Soak City (picking up dead fish, raking leaves, cleaning Bathhouse) and operate beach equipment in a safe efficient manner. Lifeguards will be required to participate in weekly in-services training sessions to maintain and improve lifeguarding skills. Lifeguards must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team and possess good communication skills
  • Qualifications:
    Must be in good physical condition, poised, and able to cope with special situations. Must be safety conscious, able to interpret verbal instructions and able to work outside in all weather conditions. Lifeguards must be impressed with the serious nature of the job and be self-disciplined. Must be a capable swimmer and able to pass all prerequisite screenings. Lifeguard training classes and certification are provided by Cedar Point. Must pass all practical and written tests. Prior lifeguarding experience is not necessary. It is required that all must be able to comprehend and speak the English language.

605 Restroom Host

  • Description:
    Maintains overall cleanliness of the restrooms at Cedar Point, Soak City, the Marina and employee break areas, as well as performing valuable guest relations work. This is a physical position, involving large amounts of walking and working outdoors in all types of weather. There is high exposure to guests in the form of answering questions about Cedar Point, taking family pictures and offering assistance when necessary. Will be required to assist the Group Utility and Sweep crews as necessary. May be asked to assist the other departments, as needed based on staffing. Will be expected, upon occasion, to test ride certain roller coasters prior to opening the rides for guests. Most employees will work an early morning to late afternoon shift or late afternoon to late evening shift.
  • Qualifications:
    Should have the ability to learn rapidly and be comfortable working with a variety of chemicals. Must be able to work well in contested areas with extremely large crowds of people. Courtesy, alertness, and a positive attitude are necessary. Qualified applicants must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be capable of handling large amounts of responsibility, and possess initiative and a sincere desire to work hard to maintain Cedar Point?s reputation for cleanliness. 606 Ride Host

  • Description:

    Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of one or more of Cedar Point's rides including children and adult rides.  Rides are operated by one or more Hosts and involve working outdoors the entire shift in all weather conditions.  This is a physical position involving bending over and in some cases lifting children.  Hosts must be willing to accept the responsibilities of working with the public, as they will be working directly with our guests, including small children and their parents.  Hosts perform all duties including watching the ride or activity, operating any necessary controls, assisting guests, communicating safety instructions, answering questions, assisting guests as they exit and enter the ride, and cleaning the entire ride area and occasionally assisting guests off the ride using stairs and/or ladders. 

  • Qualifications:

    Must be patient, poised, and able to cope with special situations.  Courtesy, alertness, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly are necessary.  Must be safety conscious, able to interpret both written and verbal instructions and be able to work outside in all weather conditions for long periods of time.  Must be impressed with the serious nature of the job and are required to follow strict guidelines.  Must be well groomed, self-disciplined, and must be able to lift heavy objects.  Major in Elementary Education, Physical Education, or Development or Educational Psychology is helpful.  It is required that all applicants be able to read, comprehend and speak the English language.

607 Steam Locomotive/Train Staff

  • Description:
    Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Cedar Point's authentic coal fired steam locomotives. Requires working outdoors the entire shift in all weather conditions. Engineers operate the locomotives, while the Firemen are responsible for the firing and lubrication of the engine. This is a very dirty and hot job involving the operation of almost irreplaceable machinery. In most cases, Engineer positions are filled by former Firemen who are basically "engineer trainees." Engineers must be able to reach and operate all running gear while working in tight quarters. Each position includes physical labor including shoveling coal, filling buckets, lifting coal bucket to the tender, shoveling coal into the tender, tending the fire and polishing the brass.
  • Qualifications:
    Must be patient, poised, and able to cope with special situations. Courtesy, alertness, a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly are necessary. Must be mature, safety conscious and able to interpret both written and verbal instructions. Engineer must be impressed with the serious nature of the job and will be required to follow strict guidelines. Mechanical experience helpful, but not necessary. An interest in railroading is important. Engineers must be well groomed and self-disciplined, and possess physical strength to perform duties. Boiler experience helpful. Must be able to lift heavy objects and be able to climb in some areas over 10 feet high. It is required that all must be able to read, comprehend and speak the English language.

608 Traffic Host

  • Description:
    Responsible for the efficient parking and exiting of cars in the parking lot. Works outside with other members of the crew to park cars and direct them out of the lot again. Must be able to give clear, distinct hand signals to control traffic. This position involves working outdoors the entire shift in all weather conditions. This is a physically demanding position which requires standing for long periods of time. Traffic controllers may also be trained for and work as toll cashiers.
  • Qualifications:
    Should have a cheerful, courteous manner with a natural smile. Must be mature, level headed and not be easily flustered. Must remain calm and courteous and maintain control of the situation at all times. It is required that all must be able to read, comprehend, and speak the English language.

609 Trash Removal

  • Description:

    Night Trash Removal Crew responsible for emptying all trash containers in and outside the park during the park's closed hours. Shift is 12 Midnight - 9:00 a.m. and employees will work 6 days a week. Will also empty trash dumpsters and pick up all loose trash/debris throughout the park and parking lots. Responsible for several aspects of our recycling program.

    Group Utility Crew responsible for trash removal during park operating hours, squeegeeing water off the midways after it rains, setting up for nightly Laser Show, skimming lagoons and fountains throughout the park, cleaning employee break areas and a variety of odd jobs as they arise, as well as performing valuable guest relations work. This is a physical position, involving working outdoors in all types of weather the entire shift. There is high exposure to guests in the form of answering questions about Cedar Point, taking family pictures and offering assistance when necessary. May be asked to assist the other departments, as needed based on staffing Will be required to assist the sweeps and restrooms crews as necessary. Will be exptected, upon occasion, to test ride certain roller coasters prior to opening the rides for guests. Most employees will work a late morning to early evening shift or early afternoon to late evening shift.

  • Qualifications:

    Night Trash Removal Crew should be able to walk long distances and prefer to work 3rd shift. Some heavy lifting and pushing is required. Drivers license preferred but not necessary.

    Group Utility Crew should have the ability to learn rapidly and be comfortable working with various types of equipment, such as pressure washers, and tractors. Heavy lifting of bags and pulling of trash removal carts is required. Must be able to work well in congested areas with extremely large crowds of people. Courtesy, alertness, and a positive attitude are necessary. Must be safety conscious and able to work outside in the sun for long periods of time. Qualified applicants must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be capable of handling large amounts of responsibility, and possess initiative and a sincere desire to work hard to maintain Cedar Point?s reputation for cleanliness. Must be well groomed and self-disciplined. It is required that all must be able to comprehend and speak the English language. Driver?s license preferred, but not required.

610 Event Set-Up

  • Description:
    Responsible for physical set-up for picnics, conventions, meetings, etc. Maintains cleanliness of all convention and picnic areas. Though basically a behind-the-scenes job, crew members work closely with conventions and other groups attending.
  • Qualifications:
    Should have the ability to learn rapidly and be comfortable working with various types of equipment. Heavy lifting and pushing required. Dependability is a must. Must be able to work alone, and in small groups without constant supervision. It is required that all applicants must be able to understand and comprehend the English language. Drivers license preferred but not required.

611 Building Cleaning Attendant

  • Description:
    Responsible for cleaning park offices and restaurants. Crews work from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM six nights per week. Duties include sweeping and mopping, vacuuming carpets, washing windows, and cleaning and stocking restrooms and offices.
  • Qualifications:
    Must prefer working third shift. A valid driver?s license is preferred but not necessary.

612 Sweep

  • Description:

This is a physical position, involving continuous walking and working outdoors in all types of weather the entire shift. There is high exposure to guests in the form of answering questions about Cedar Point, taking family pictures and offering assistance when necessary. Will be required to assist the Restrooms and Group Utility crews as necessary. May be asked to assist the other departments, as needed based on staffing. Will be expected, upon occasion, to test ride certain roller coasters prior to opening the rides for guests. Most employees will work a mid-morning to early evening shift or early afternoon to late evening shift.
  • Qualifications:
    Must be able to move quickly and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to work well in congested areas with extremely large crowds of people. 902 Bus Driver

  • Description:
    Responsible for transporting employees to and from various locations on the Cedar Point peninsula and around Sandusky. These employees have direct employee contact so personality, cool-headedness, and a neat appearance are all strong considerations.

    Must have CDL license, class A or B, with passenger and air brake endorsements. Routes include First Street (employee housing area) to Cedar Point and downtown Sandusky to Cedar Point. Flexible schedules available.

904 Department Trainer

  • Description:
    Assists in the development and/or implementation of company/departmental training programs for seasonal employees. May be responsible for facilitating training classes, training location employees. Duties may also include data entry and general filing.
  • Qualifications:
    Possess a high level of organizational, communication (verbal/written), and time management skills. Must have supervisory skills and the ability to speak in front of audiences. Previous training experience helpful. One or more years of Cedar Point work experience is preferred. Must exhibit tact, style, and grooming consistent with company image.

908 Office Clerk/Data Entry

  • Description:
    Responsibilities include handling guest complaints, cashing checks, measuring children and issuing ride admission policy forms. General office duties, such as typing and filing are also part of this position. Also responsible for maintaining proper communications such as answering telephones, paging, and monitoring weather and ride downtimes. Maintains proper office policies and procedures in a business-like manner, answers telephones and takes concise messages. Responsible for key entry on IBM computer, and record keeping. May works directly with the public. Must be willing to be flexible with work schedule.
  • Qualifications:
    Patient, poised, able to cope with special situations and work well under pressure. Courtesy, alertness, a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly are necessary. Must be well-groomed. Office experience is helpful. Should be able to courteously and tactfully handle guests in both positive and negative situations.
